Kids and parents can have fun while supporting the domestic violence program during a fundraiser at Jumpers Playhouse Thursday.

Independent beauty consultant Kim Manning organized the fundraiser from noon to 7 p.m. at the inflatables game center at 6600 New Nashville Highway in Smyrna.

“The Domestic Violence Program just holds a place in my heart,” Johnson said. “I decided to help out as much as I can.”

More than 150 families with about 200 children sought housing this fiscal year from the Domestic Violence Shelter. The program helped 1,085 adults through counseling and court appearances.

Jumpers Playhouse charges $6.95 for one child and $5.95 for additional children in one family. While children are jumping, mothers can obtain facials from Manning. A percentage of proceeds from the Jumpers Playhouse and facials will be donated to the Domestic Violence Program.

Women must make an appointment for the facial before Thursday by calling Manning at 248-3755.

Domestic Violence Program representatives will speak to parents and distribute information about the program. Cash donations and items such as blankets will be accepted. People may call Manning about needed donations.

DVP Director Deborah Johnson said since the fund-raiser involved children, she will use the proceeds for the children’s summer program such as outdoor play items and activities for the children’s coordinator to use with the children.

The shelter broke a record by housing 22 children last week at the shelter. The children ranged in age from 2-months to 18. Previously, the shelter housed 17 children at once.
