The Rutherford County Family YMCA names Kitty Murfree its 2009 Humanitarian of the Year.
Four years ago, the board of directors at the Rutherford County Family YMCA decided to host an annual event honoring citizens in the community who give of their time, talent and treasure to make Rutherford County a better place to live. Past recipients include Bob Parks, Jack Weatherford and Dr. Liz Rhea.
Murfree will be honored for her philanthropic work throughout Rutherford County at the upcoming YMCA Humanitarian of the Year Breakfast on Dec. 3 at Stones River Country Club.
Proceeds from the event benefit the YMCA’s We Build People campaign, which helps keep the Y available to all by providing financial assistance to those who otherwise could not afford the full cost of a membership. We Build People dollars also fund a number of community outreach programs for youth and teens. Tickets are still available for the breakfast for $75 per person or $750 for a table of 10. To reserve your seat or table, call Kami Emling at (615) 260-6570.
