Murfreesboro City Schools will open the 2009-10 school year with the official day of registration for alternative calendar schools from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday, July 16 at the student’s zoned/designated school.

For those unable to attend on that date, registration will continue during regular school hours thereafter.

Age requirements:
A child entering kindergarten shall be no less than age 5 on or before Sept. 30.
A child entering first grade shall be no less than 6 years old on or before Sept. 30. After July 1, 1993, no child shall be eligible to attend first grade without having attended an approved kindergarten program.

All Students Must Provide:
1. A birth certificate or officially acceptable evidence of date of birth at the time of
registration.
2. Evidence of a current medical examination. There shall be a complete medical
examination of every student entering school for the first time.
3. Evidence of state-required immunization.
4. Proof of address of parent or legal guardian upon initial enrollment; however, proof of
residency or guardianship may be requested at any time.
5. Student's social security number.
The name used on the records of a student entering school must be that shown on the birth certificate unless evidence is presented that such name has been legally changed through a court as prescribed by law. If the parent does not have, or cannot obtain, a birth certificate, then the name used on the records of such student will be that as shown on documents which are acceptable to the school principal as proof of date of birth.

ESL Students:
Immunizations required of all students are required for ESL students. If there is a child without documentation (green card) or is homeless, they will be admitted to school in accordance with federal law. A reasonable length of time will be given for the parents or guardian to obtain documentation.

Yes the sounds of school bells ringing and the traffic once again.
This year the lucky parents of Bradley also has the joy of buying all new cloths for their children. Thank you Ms. Payne for setting the boundries of what my kid will be wearing. Because I don't live in North Woods or any of the other up scaled neighborhoods, we can't buy close for school and everywhere else. The basic thing YOU have over looked is if you force them to wear something at school they won't want to wear them anywhere else. Well I guess you don't have to deal with that part of this mess, or with the expence. No, I guess I'm wrong with that. You do have do worry with the expence, because it looks like I'll be spending my money on cloths and NOT on school supplies. So don't be sending me notes home with my kid begging for money or supplies.
Futher more you didn't even have the courtesy to talk with the parents, or return their e-mails about this. But on the sunny side, things are looking up for the staff at Bradley. The kids will behave and smooth sailing for all, with the new cloths (and Wal-mart laughing all the way to the bank).

Jessy maybe you should compose an e-mail to Ms. Payne, and when you do, utilize your spell check....

I expected that. When I sent her an e-mail I did. This format ( for stupid people like me :o), not so lucky )doesn't have that. It's people like you that can't look at the content ( nor understand it )and agree or or disagree. Don't worry the world needs people like you also. It does keep people like me on there toes.
So whats your story in the school program, or are you the "spell checker" for Murfreesboro? I am interested in you dealings with uniforms or school officals that will not communicate with parents.
Hopefully in the future you can look past the little things and see the big picture before you.

Well since you are interested in my opinion... I am not the spell checker, but the reason to point it out is simple. It is hard to follow. If you didn't get an answer to your e-mail, call or visit her. There are certainly more constructive ways to tell her your view point.

Now as far as uniforms, my two oldest boys attended Hobgood and they wore uniforms. At first, I wasn't too fond of them, I must admit. They grew on me. In fact, I think they are a wonderful idea. I wish Barfield would require them (where son number three attends.) Uniforms are affordable in my experience and we would donate the clothes they outgrew to the school for children that could use them. I am not going to point out all of the other benefits because I have seen them mentioned enough previously. My guess is the principal isn't requiring uniforms to make your life miserable, but hey, I have been wrong before.

My boys didn't seem to mind them much and if they did, tough. If you can't afford to buy your child uniform clothes and "after school" clothes, make them wear the uniforms. It won't kill them, I promise.

Here was my favorite excerpt from your post:

"You do have do worry with the expence, because it looks like I'll be spending my money on cloths and NOT on school supplies. So don't be sending me notes home with my kid begging for money or supplies"

Really? Don't ask you to provide your own child's school supplies so you can buy "after school" clothes? Wow. My guess is Ms. Payne, whom I don't know, wouldn't get anywhere with you even if she did call you back. You are a bit passionate about clothing, which some would view as irrational.

Now as far as not having school officials communicate with me, I haven't had that experience. What I am passionate about is my children, and if I have something to say, I guarantee I will be heard. I might have to get up from the computer and drive over to the school though.

Every year I HOPE for a school uniform. Doesn't matter where you shop - Walmart, Target, or Dillards the uniform clothes are ALWAYS cheaper than the other clothes in those stores.
