Youth Empowerment through Arts & Humanities Inc. will hold a zombie-themed prom in late October in support of its 2012-2013 season of programs.
“In 2012 our programs celebrated record participation,” said Jeff Clark, vice-chair of YEAH!. “We have done all of our programming without ever saying no to a student for financial reasons. This cannot happen without community support – thank you for the students and thank you for the world you help us create.”
The gala will be held at and co-sponsored by UnCorked at Maple Street Grill in Murfreesboro.
In keeping with the time of the year, all attending are invited to come in their best 1960s style prom attire with a Halloween twist for the Zombie Prom.
There will be prizes for best costumes, and of course, the election of the prom queen and prom king. The evening will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, with drinks and will be followed by dinner prepared by the chefs and cooks at Uncorked. Throughout the evening, all in attendance will hear from board members, staff, volunteers, and most importantly from students, about how YEAH!’s vision for Middle Tennessee communities has made and continues to make a positive impact. “Whether people realize it or not, it is organizations like YEAH! which help fuel students’ creativity,” said Josh Hildebrandt, administrative director for YEAH! “In today’s time, one’s ability to create is a way to produce an identity and generate a sense of pride in one’s work. For a community as a whole, these qualities are vital. This is why YEAH! continues its mission to serve our students and societies together.” After dinner, the dancing will begin, with Snake Face and the River Spirits providing 1960s-era music.
The band began as one of YEAH!’s Rock Block program bands, and has gone on to play publicly and successfully for numerous concerts and shows.
Tickets are $75 each, $125 per couple, and $500 for a table of eight.
Part of the purchase price for all tickets will be a tax-deductible donation, and those donations will be appropriately acknowledged for tax purposes.
