One person was seriously injured Friday morning in a crash that occurred on Southeast Broad Street near State Route 840 in Murfreesboro, causing traffic delays on both sides of the road.

“At 11:03 a.m., Murfreesboro Police Department officers responded to an injury crash on Broad Street,” said Sgt. Kyle Evans, public information officer for the Police Department. “Three vehicles were involved in the crash, and one of the passengers sustained a serious head injury.”

Due to the injuries, LifeFlight also responded to the scene to transport the passenger to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

“No other person in the vehicles sustained serious injuries,” Evans said.

As emergency medical personnel were working at the scene, a secondary crash occurred in the eastbound lane, heading into Murfreesboro from Smyrna, of Southeast Broad Street.

A truck rear-ended a car less than a mile from the first crash.

Information regarding the status of the people involved in that wreck has not yet been released to the public.

Evans said the Fatal Accident Crash Team is investigating the first crash.

This would be Northwest Broad street.

Southeast Broad St is Manchester Hwy - nowhere close to 840
