A serious injury crash that occurred Wednesday just before 3 p.m. closed part of North Rutherford Boulevard between Alumni Drive and West Main Street in Murfreesboro.

Murfreesboro Police Maj. Clyde Adkison said a motorcyclist hit a truck in front of the Shell gas station in the 300 block of North Rutherford Boulevard, located near Campus Crossings Apartments and Middle Tennessee State University.

The male driver of the motorcycle, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The male driver of the truck was taken by ambulance as well, but he did not receive life-threatening injuries.

As of 4:15 p.m., North Rutherford Boulevard remained closed. The road should be re-opened by 6 p.m.

The Fatal Accident Crash Team is investigating.
