Four women pepper-sprayed a Victoria’s Secret supervisor trying to stop them from stealing about $850 worth of merchandise about 1:30 p.m. Monday from the Stones River Mall, Murfreesboro Police reported.

The women picked up three plaid winter jackets, one bra, six pink T-shirts and 30 pairs of pink panties and attempted to leave the store, Officer Tim Meeks reported.

Store supervisor Michelle Good stood in the doorway in an attempt to keep the women from leaving the store and called to a co-worker to notify security officers. The four women ran toward her.

“One of the females pepper-sprayed” Good before fleeing, the officer reported. They drove away in a gold, two-door Pontiac with tinted windows. A witness took a photograph of the getaway car.

The women were described as four black females with medium build and possibly in their early 20s.

People who have information about the suspects are asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 893-2717 or Crime Stoppers at 893-STOP between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

In another case, Officer Pam Crabtree reported burglars stole more than $10,000 worth of property from James Phiffer of Sunset Avenue. Items stolen included a women’s antique diamond ring valued at $8,000, a women’s diamond cocktail ring, blue opal and diamond ring, silver men’s watch, fake Rolex watch, women’s cold pinky ring, five gold chain necklaces, a gold chain with a pink pearl and a 1974 Oakland High School class ring.

Another burglar apologized to the victim after breaking into his home about 12:40 p.m. last Thursday on Division Street near MTSU, Officer Robert Palmer reported.

Victim Andrew Tienter was in the shower and heard a knock at the door. He opened the bathroom door and found a white man about 6-foot-1 tall and weighing about 240 pounds standing inside.

“He hit the suspect with his fist while the suspect charged at him,” Palmer reported. “Tienter stated as he was falling, he grabbed the suspect’s shirt and almost pulled it off. Mr. Tienter stated that the suspect then ran downstairs and out the door while saying, ‘I’m sorry dude.’”

In another case, Officer Chad Hershman reported Bernard Trover, who resided at AdamsPlace, lost his $1,950 Miracle Ear hearing aid in September.

Trover placed his hearing aid on his nightstand and couldn’t find it the next day.

Security at Stones River Mall is comical. The guy who played in the Movie "Mall Cop" has more on the ball than any ten of them at SR Mall.

If they are not going to be serious about security, why bother? Why have it at all when it is essentailly useless?
