The Exchange Club Family Center has been notified by several businesses in Murfreesboro that there is a local woman seeking donations for an event called Exchange Club Marathon '12.

She claims to have a daughter receiving services from the center and wants to help. This is not an event sponsored or benefiting the Exchange Club Family Center or either of the Exchange Club Civic organizations.

The woman is asking businesses to write personal checks to her. Two police reports have been filed.

"Any fundraising activities by the center will always be solicited on letterhead with our logo and we would never ask that checks be made to an individual, only to the Exchange Club Family Center, which is a tax exempt organization," said Dawn Eaton, executive director of the Exchange Club Family Center.

If you have been a victim of this scam, please call and report it as soon as possible to Detective Katrina Henderson at the Murfreesboro Police Department.

Thank you to the Post for running this article.
Why someone wants to "steal" money from a charity that helps abused and neglected children is -- well? I have no words to use.

Please, give only to either an Exchange Club, The Exchange Club Family Center, or United Way direct - NOT TO AN INDIVIDUAL saying they represent this organization.

It should not hurt to be a kid, help us fight the disease of child abuse and neglect.
