A woman motorist who struck and killed a boy while he was changing a tire on Interstate 24 was arrested for DUI and leaving the scene of an accident on Thursday afternoon.

According to a police report, Tina Wilson, 33 of Murfreesboro, was driving westbound when she ran off the road and struck the 13-year-old boy while he was changing the tire of his mother’s car.

Upon hitting the boy, Wilson allegedly kept driving but was followed by a person in another vehicle. The witness called police. Wilson was said was said to be intoxicated when she was stopped by police.

The accident was reported around 1 p.m. on I-24 at mile marker 66.

Clifton Braunwalder, 13, was killed, while his 12-year-old sister sustained no injuries.

THP report shows that Wilson is suspected of being under the influence of drugs. She is facing charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash and multiple other charges are pending, including DUI.
