One Rutherford County woman was shot and killed about 10 p.m. Tuesday at her 4389 Veals Road home, a sheriff’s supervisor said Wednesday.
Deputies found victim Sommay Vanisouvong, 59, deceased in the living area of the home, said Commander Preble A. Acton of the Criminal Investigative Division.
Officers responded to the home for a call of shots fired inside the residence. Information gathered by communications indicated a possible home invasion.
The preliminary investigation by detectives provided some information about what may or may not have occurred at the home, however, it would be harmful to the victim’s family and investigation to release speculative information, the commander said.
“At this point, Mrs. Vanisouvong’s untimely death is being investigated as a homicide but the circumstances surrounding the event have not been determined,” Acton said. “Evidence was gathered throughout the night by responding detectives but there is much more to do before we can confirm any status of this investigation.”
CID detectives will provide updates when the facts are in place to support released information. |
