An elderly woman died in a mobile home fire around 1:30 Saturday afternoon on North Tennessee Boulevard.

Margarite Autrey, 71, was home alone when the fire occurred. Her roommate was displaced as a result of the fire, but was offered assistance from the American Red Cross.

MFRD’s District 8, Engine 1, Engine 4, and Rescue 7 discovered heavy smoke and flames upon arrival to the mobile home.

“Crews did a fantastic job extinguishing the fire quickly,” said Shift Commander Daryl Alexander.

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department and Murfreesboro Police Department worked until sunset conducting their respective investigations. The Fire Marshals' Office obtained samples and sent them off for testing. Preliminary results may take a few weeks.
