Two brazen burglars fled Monday after being caught in the act by a victim and a neighbor at separate apartment complexes, Murfreesboro Police reported.
A 21-year-old woman climbed out of the shower when she saw a man opening her bedroom window about 6:20 p.m. at her Greenland Drive apartment, Officer Palmer Gibbs reported.
“Once the suspect saw her, he turned around and walked away,” Gibbs reported.
She described the man was a white male with long hair wearing a black hoodie.
In a separate case, Officer Brittney Maxwell reported a 65-year-old woman heard two men attempting to break into a neighbor’s apartment about 7:26 p.m. at Center Pointe Drive.
She walked outside and yelled, “What are you doing?”
One of the men replied he lived in the home but she knew it wasn’t. She yelled at him to get away. The suspects drove away in an older model two-door hatchback.
Victim Michael Reed wasn’t as lucky.
Officer Abby Hartup reported Reed returned home to notice someone stole about $1,900 worth of property from his Foxdale Drive home.
A neighbor noticed three juveniles who appeared to be suspicious walking on Foxdale Drive. The neighbor circled but apparently didn’t call police.
Property stolen from Reed included a Wii game, an X Box with games, 35 DVDs, a signet gold ring and a laptop computer.
Thieves were busy stealing equipment.
Officer James Thomason reported thieves stole a trailer from Blake Smith of Smith Design Build when parked at Goldenbear Court. Loss was set at $8,500.
Officer James Thomas reported someone stole an electrical breaker box from a house under construction Monday on Passage Drive. The house is owned by Swanson Realty and Construction.
“The box was cut from the house’s wiring, approximately 20 wires, which will require $600 to $2,500 worth of parts and labor to restore the wiring to a new box,” Thomas reported.
