Multiple victims on Baird Lane Wednesday afternoon give conflicting stories.

Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, Taron Hayes found her roommate Javaris Verge, 24, of 1124(A) S. Baird Ln., bleeding on the front steps of their residence.

Jarvis had three gunshot wounds, two in the left leg and one in the right testicle.

“While I gave medical aid to Mr. Verge, he told me that a black male with dreads had come to his front door and pointed a gun at him demanding money,” MPD Officer Christopher Pitts reported.

Verge then wrestled with his attacker, took the gun and shot at his assailant as he ran away, he said to Pitts.

The victim was then taken to MTMC for medical treatment and LifeFlighted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.

While at MTMC, Pitts discovered another gunshot victim from Baird Lane.

Marcus McCullough, of 1124(B) S. Baird Ln., said he was smoking on his back porch when Verge came up and asked to buy some marijuana.

McCullough then went inside the home with Verge.

“Verge pulled a pistol out loaded a round into the chamber and told Mr. McCullough to give him the money and drugs …” Pitts reported. Verge patted him down looking for more, then shot him twice, hitting Mr. McCullough in the arm and the leg.”

McCullough said he doesn’t know how Verge was assaulted.

MPD Spokesman Kyle Evans said detectives are investigating the incidents and anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 893-STOP (7867).

Did McCullough (the drug-dealer) know Verge (the customer)? This whole situation, while sad, is hilarious!
