Step’n out in Black & Blue
Come as you choose to Step’n out in Black & Blue, benefiting the Boy & Girls Clubs of Rutherford County.
The black tie and blue jeans event starts at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Mirabella Ballroom at the Embassy Suites Hotel on Medical Center Parkway.
Donations are $175 per person or $1,500 per table of 10.
Nathan Stephens Endowment Scholarship Fund
David Price will sponsor another benefit in memory of one of his best friends at Blackman High School, Nathan Stephens, at University of Tennessee graduate student who died in 2007 after suffering a seizure while playing basketball.
Proceeds of the benefit will go to the Nathan Stephens Endowment Scholarship Fund, providing scholarships to four graduating seniors to attend college. The benefit earned $25,000 last year.
Debbie Price hopes to raise even more funds to make the scholarship “self-sustaining so it will be there forever.”
The event will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at Smyrna Bowling Center. Tickets are $10 each.
Price will sign autographs from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. He will bowl from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. A silent auction will run from 10 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.

Jeans & Tees vs. Heart Disease
Rachel and Jimmy McElahney host the Jeans & Tees vs. Heart Disease event from 6:30 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Nov. 14 at Stones River Country Club. Tickets are $70 per person.
The casual event featured great food, a relaxed time with friends, a silent auction with unique items and entertainment by “More Cowbell.”
Funds raised at the Jeans & Tees vs. Heart Disease will help the American Heart Association will help fight against heart disease and stroke by advancing medical researching, spreading life-saving knowledge and reaching out to people of all ages to ensure stronger, longer lives.

Theater
The Arts Center of Cannon County stages Driving Miss Daisy at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
One of modern American Theatre’s most touching and irresistible stories, the play is a comedy-drama that is sure to warm your heart with its message of friendship, understanding and hope.
Admission is $10 for adults, and $8 for seniors, students or groups and may be purchased by calling 615-563-ARTS (2787).
The Arts Center also stages a special presentation of B” at 2 p.m. Saturday. Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
The Arts Center of Cannon County is located at 1424 John Bragg Hwy. in Woodbury.
This is the last weekend to catch Southern Fried Murder at the Center for the Arts.
Southern Fried Murder by Billy St. John takes place in New Orleans. The audience may participate in solving the mystery with a special “prize” awarded to the first person to discover the secret.
This comedy will play at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday with performances through Nov. 14. A sit down dinner sponsored by Outback Steakhouse and dessert by Scott Trover will be served by the actors.
Reservations must be made at least 72 hours in advance and nightly seating capacity is 70. Tickets are available by phone at 615-904-2787, online at www.boroarts.org, and at the box office. Tickets are $35 a person or $60 a couple. This show is suitable for children.
Book signing
Author Lt. Col. Tom C. McKenney will speak and sign copies of his book Jack Hinson’s One-Man War: A Civil War Sniper from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Linebaugh Public Library.
The book tells of Jack Hinson, a wealthy plantation owner in the 1850’s who never planned to become a deadly sniper. He was devoted to raising his growing family and working his land. Yet by 1865, Hinson had likely killed more than one hundred men and had single-handedly taken down an armed Union transport in his one-man war against Grant’s Army and Navy.
Copies of the book will be available during the talk.
Volunteer Fire Department Fundraisers
The Lascassas Volunteer Fire Department holds its monthly fish fry from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at 6531 Lascassas Pike.
The all-you-can-eat meal includes fish, chicken, hush puppies, white beans, Cole slaw, French fries and your choice of drink. Homemade desserts also available.
Adult meals are $11 with discounts for children and seniors.
If you’re not in the mood for fish, the Southeast Rutherford Volunteer Fire Department holds a spaghetti supper from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the fire hall on Elam Road.
The all-you-can-eat meal is $8 for adults and $5 for children with under age 3 eating free. MTSU students with ID get a $1 discount.
The West Side Volunteer Fire Department in Readyville will hold its annual Turkey Shoot from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday.
Ammunition will be provided. Shooting rounds alternate between turkey and hams awarded for the winner of each round.
