Martin Luther King Jr. Events MTSU Dance Theatre will present “The Exodus Project” in the Tucker Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
The concert examines historic and contemporary migrations. While some of the dances presented are poetic in nature, others present direct reflections on emigrations and immigrations that reshaped cultural identities. These works will be complimented by performances from T Lang Dance Company of Atlanta and Company d, a company of disabled dancers from Memphis.
General admission tickets are $10 and $5 for students. MTSU students are admitted free with a valid student ID.
On Saturday, the NAACP holds its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast at 9 a.m. at MTSU in the Tennessee Room of the James Union Building. The Jerry Anderson Hero Award and

Rutherford Society Gala The MTMC Foundation will hold the fifth annual Rutherford Society Gala Saturday at the Embassy Suites. This year’s guest speaker is former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who is also a FOX News anchor, 2008 presidential candidate and NY Times best-selling author.
Diagnosed with Type II diabetes in 2003, Huckabee lost 110 pounds and barely two years later, had completed four marathons. Continuing to call for a national emphasis on living a healthy lifestyle, Huckabee completed the book, Quit Digging Your Grave With a Knife and Fork.
The Rutherford Society Gala is a private event held to recognize donors in the Rutherford Society, a premier group of donors who contribute $1,000 or more to the MTMC Foundation in a calendar year to support the foundation’s 16 funds.
