Center for the Arts

The Center for the Arts continues 2009 season opener this weekend with the classic family musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

The inspirational, colorful musical features a music and lyrics by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber and is directed by the Center’s Jesse Cannady.

The Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes to vibrant life in this delightful musical parable. Joseph, his father's favorite son, is a boy blessed with prophetic dreams.

Set to an engaging cornucopia of musical styles, from country-western and calypso to bubble-gum pop and rock 'n' roll, this Old Testament tale emerges both timely and timeless.

The curtain goes up at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays at and 2 p.m. Sundays.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and $8 for children ages 12 and under.

The Center for the Arts is located at 110 West College Street, one block off the historic Murfreesboro Square.

Business at its Best

The Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce presents the 2009 Business at Its Best at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the ballroom of the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Dale Henry about “Ten Cans: Change Requires An Opener”.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner starts at 6:30 p.m.

Fee is $60 for Chamber members; $80 for non-members.

Discovery Center

Have a heart and make a bracelet for your Valentine with a Guided Beading Activity in the Creation Station from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the Discovery Center.

Purchase beads from the Great Discoveries Gift Shop for only $0.75 and create a one of a kind for someone special.

Stones River National Battlefield

During Black History Month Programs, Stones River National Battlefield rangers will share their favorite programs that shed light on the stories of African Americans during the Civil War.

Black History Month programs take place from 2-3:30 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday weekly from Feb. 1-21 at the Visitor Center.

The programs are free and open to the public.

Valentine Photos

Get a Valentine photograph of your pet to benefit the Beesley Foundation from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at 2215 Keeneland Commercial Blvd.

Appointments are scheduled every 30 minutes. A $25 donation includes 1 5×7-inch photo and sitting fee for one animal with an extra $5 fee for each additional animal.

Beesley Animal Foundation is a volunteer organization with the purpose of promoting the welfare of pets.

The Stones River Antique Automobile Club of America is sponsoring its 21st annual automotive swap meet from 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Tennessee State Fair Grounds in Nashville.
