Stones River Campaign Anniversary Programs
Nearly 150 years ago, Union and Confederate forces clashed in Murfreesboro.
Stones River National Battlefield will commemorate the battle with living history programs Friday, Dec. 26-Jan. 2, 2009.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of programs that tell the story of one of the most significant campaigns of the Civil War.
The anniversary programs will be held at the Stones River National Battlefield, 3501 Old Nashville Highway. For more information, call Stones River National Battlefield at 615-893-9501 or visit www.nps.gov/stri.
Recycle your Christmas tree or old TV
Don’t put that Christmas tree in the trash to take-up space in Middle Point landfill. Recycle those formerly live trees into mulch.
Trees will be collected Dec. 26 through the New Year at Lee Victory Recreation Center in Smyrna, the parking lot at La Vergne’s Public Works Building and the Farmer’s Market shed at Cannonsburgh in Murfreesboro.
If you have questions, call Recycle Rutherford at 615-687-3497 or visit www.recyclerutherford.org.
Also if you got a new TV for Christmas, don’t throw your old one away. Bring it to the Rutherford County Convience Center on Haley Road.
Old televisions will be collected from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
