Veterans Day On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Rutherford County will pay tribute to those who served and gave the supreme sacrifice to protect the United States.
The Veteran’s Day Tribute begins at 11 a.m. Friday on the Public Square in Murfreesboro. Activities include a color guard from a local high school JROTC, and patriotic music will be performed.
Turkey Tee-Off Golfers may compete in the “Turkey Tee-Off” ” to benefit the Child Advocacy Center at 8 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Crest Golf Course.
Levels of event sponsorship range from $50 to $2,500 for the inaugural event. For $50, businesses can have a tee box sign. For $60, an individual can golf. For $240, participants can be a team captain for a team of four golfers. For $2,500, businesses can be one of the presenting sponsors for the golf tournament.
Child abuse affects a significant number of children in the community. In the last 11 years, the Child Protective Investigative Team, which consists of the Child Advocacy Center, the Department of Children’s Services, law enforcement and the District Attorney’s Office, have worked together to investigate and prosecute more than 7,000 child abuse, child sexual abuse, and drug endangered children cases in Rutherford and Cannon counties.

Culture Fest 2011 Students In Free Enterprise at MTSU will hold the second annual Culture Fest “Tour of the World” from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday in the Tennessee Room of the James Union Building, located on campus.
The student-run event is free and open to the public.
Guests can see and touch items unique to each individual culture.
Fine multicultural cuisine will make its way around the room for guests to enjoy while watching cultural dances, musical performances and bands from the stage of the Tennessee Room.
Also, in the Hazelwood Dining Room, visiting lecturers will present intriguing conversational lectures about their native country and culture and deliver details about the different activities and interests of their people.
