Don’t forget Tennessee’s Sales Tax Holiday is this weekend. School supplies, computers and clothing can be bought without state and local sales taxes.

The discount is limited to select clothing costing $100 or less per item, school and art supplies costing $100 or less per item, and computers costing $1,500 or less.

Center for the Arts
The Center for the Arts, 110 W. College St., stages Big River at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee.

The play is based on Mark Twain’s classic antebellum story of the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, with music and lyrics by Grammy award winner Roger Miller, and book by William Hauptman.

Take an exciting ride down the Mississippi River in this classic musical adventure with a thrilling score mixing gospel, folk, country and blues.

Tickets are $14 for adults; $12 for seniors and students; and $10 for children.

Friday Night Live
Christian groups – Ben Davis Project, Kimber Rising, and World Outreach Church Celebration Arts Ministry – bring music to the Square at 6:30 p.m. Friday night.

Bring a lawn chair, meet friends, stroll and shop in the historic district and hear great music.

Rutherford County 4-H Fair
Like old-fashioned county fairs, the Rutherford County 4-H Fair features students competing in baking, photography, gardening, arts and crafts, and other categories this weekend.

The fair takes place starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at Lane Agri-Park on John Rice Boulevard.

The archery tournament starts at 1 p.m and the animal show, which includes the Chick Chain, Dairy and Livestock shows, starts at 4 p.m.

A barbecue dinner and auction will also be held to benefit 4-H, starting at 4:30 p.m.

MTSU Graduation
Close to 1,000 MTSU students will walk the stage during the 97th annual Summer Commencement Services at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Murphy Center.

MTSU English Department’s Alfred Lutz will deliver the keynote address.

The university will stream the services on its Web site, www.mtsu.edu.

MLT
Murfreesboro Little Theater holds a cookout, membership meeting and awards night at 5 p.m. Saturday at its facility on Ewing Avenue.

Stones River National Battlefield
Rangers will lead the Hallowed Ground Cemetery Tour on Saturday at the Stones River National Battlefield.

The dusk hour-long tour stops at tombstones where a re-enactors, dressed in period costume, will read the last letter to home from this deceased soldier.

Space for this free and open event is limited. Reservations are required at 615-893-9501. There is a limit of four reservations per phone call.

Comfortable walking shoes and insect repellent are recommended.

Murfreesboro Hot Rod Club
The Murfreesboro Hot Rod Club holds its weekly Cruise-In from 5-9 p.m. Friday at The Avenue in the Belk parking lot.

Step back to the rock’n roll era with DJ music, giveaways, prizes and fun. The club requests a donation of $1 that will go to local charities.

This fun event begins the first Friday in May and continues weekly (weather permitting) through the first Friday in October. Visit its Web site at www.4mhrc.net for more information.
