| The Murfreesboro Police was serving a warrant Sat., March 26 and found more than expected.
MPD Officer Palmer Gibbs was serving a warrant for Gary Bly, who lives with his girlfriend Angela Griswold at 914 Minor Street.
Gibbs contacted Griswold at approximately 2:30 p.m. to ask about Bly’s whereabouts and told her about the warrants out for his arrest. Griswold said that she was in Shelbyville, and had not seen Bly for four days.
The police department traced the phone number and discovered it was a landline leading back to Bly and Griswold’s residence on Minor Street.
When Gibbs went to the house, at 3:00 p.m., he knocked and announced the police several times, before entering the home.
Inside, he found that Bly and another man, Delmiccio Tigg, were holding Griswold and her 11-year-old daughter, Cheynne McClanahan, hostage in their home.
Bly and Tigg had separated Griswold and her daughter into different bedrooms and would not let Griswold out to use the bathroom.
Tigg told Griswold to remember that her daughter was in the other room before she tried to open the door.
Griswold took this to mean that Tigg could get to McClanahan first, should Griswold try to get to the room she was being kept in.
Bly was also coaching Griswold on what to say when she was on the phone with Gibbs earlier in the day.
Police searched the home, and they found a wallet in the attic belonging to Sean Grace.
Both men were arrested on charges of robbery and theft. Their bond amount was set at $13,000. They will appear in court on May 10. |
