| The man who was found dead outside of an apartment building Saturday has been identified as the suspect wanted in connection with the Sept. 15 robbery of a local Walgreens Pharmacy.
Officials with the Murfreesboro Police Department announced Wednesday Owen Scott, who was found at an apartment complex at 117 E. Northfield Blvd., was the same person suspected of robbing the pharmacy two days earlier.
The owner of the apartment complex discovered Scott when he went there to mow the lawn, according to the incident report filed by Officer Andrew Messick.
According to a Sept. 15 incident report filed by Officer Angelo Medina, a man fitting Scott’s description stole more than 2,000 prescription pain pills, including Xanax, Oxycodone, Morphine and Dilaudid.
“The complainant stated an unknown white male approached the counter and placed a note on it that stated, ‘give me these medications or I’ll f***ing kill you,’” Medina reported. “He stated he did not see a weapon but fearing for his life complied with the robber’s demands.”
The man fled before police arrived on the scene.
Scott was later determined to be the primary suspect in the robbery, according to the press release.
The cause of his death remains under investigation.
“The results of an autopsy conducted this week are still outstanding,” said Kyle Evans, public information officer with the Police Department, in a press release. “Therefore, the cause of death has not yet been determined.” |
