Two MTSU students are semi-finalists in the “Oscar Correspondent Contest,” a joint-promotion from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and mtvU, MTV’s 24-hour college network.

Nicki DeCroce of Nashville and Tony Holt of Maryville, Tenn., are representing Middle Tennessee State University and have beat out college students from across the country to become one of 10 semifinalist teams in the running to win a spot on the red carpet at this year’s Academy Awards.

People can vote for them through 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10 at their video entry, along with the other nine semifinalist videos, online at oscars.mtvu.com.

The three teams whose videos receive the most votes will be announced on Friday, Feb. 12 and will advance to the final round of the contest.  Those three teams will be flown to Los Angeles to participate in various events leading up to the 82nd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, March 7.

Nicki (anchor) is a junior studying journalism with a minor in Spanish. Tony (videographer) is a senior studying electronic media production.
