Volunteers sought for Greenway planting

Angela Jackson, Murfreesboro’s Program Coordinator for Greenways and Wetlands, is asking for volunteers to help plant thousands of trees and shrubs along a quarter-mile of Greenway and Stones River shoreline on Nov. 20 and 21.

Organized to help restore vegetation destroyed by this spring’s tornado, pre-registration is requested by contacting Jackson at 893-2141 or by email at ajackson@murfreesborotn.gov.

Participants are advised to bring a shovel and/or garden trowel and gloves and to wear long pants and sturdy, close-toed shoes. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Anyone over the age of 10 can participate but parents must sign a permission/release form for children under 17. All children must be supervised by an adult.

Volunteers are asked to meet at the Thompson Lane Trailhead, 2240 N. Thompson Ln prior to each event.
