Surveillance videos captured a man wearing a bandana throw a rock through a convenience store and steal about $28,500 worth of merchandise, Murfreesboro Police reported.
About 579 cartons of cigarettes valued at more than $17,000, $9,400 in cash and a cash register valued at $700 were stolen from J&A Market on West Northfield Boulevard, Officer Ron McGee reported.
“The video shows a black male, wearing a bandana, throw a large limestone rock through the front door glass, causing approximately $650 in damage,” McGee reported.
He stole the cigarettes and cash register, the officer reported.
Detectives Philip Loyd and Kerry Thorpe are investigating.

In another case, Officer Matt Manor reported three people were robbed in a home invasion about 12:20 a.m. Sunday on South Rutherford Boulevard.
Victim Charles Howell reported he saw two men armed with handguns climbing over the fence. He went into a bedroom where he called 911. The robbers kicked in the bedroom door and yelled, “You got any more of this?”
Another victim, Austin Hansen, reported a robber pointed a gun in his face and told him to get on the ground. He was robbed of his wallet. Victim Spencer Buford reported a robber pointed a gun in his face and he was robbed of a small Mason jar containing marijuana.
