A man robbed a Pinnacle Financial Partners branch bank at about 1:37 p.m. Friday at 1645 N.W. Broad St., the Murfreesboro Police spokesman said.

A white man wearing a red and white shirt with a tie approached a teller inside the bank and demanded money, said spokesman Kyle Evans. Police believe he was armed with a handgun.She complied. He fled on foot and may have entered a black and silver S-10 or small GMC pickup truck traveling toward Smyrna on Northwest Broad Street.

“Our officers are canvassing the area and beginning the initial investigation at the bank,” Evans said.Murfreesboro doesn't experience many bank robberies. This type of crime is unusual.

The bank will be closed the rest of the day during the joint investigation by the FBI and Murfreesboro Police but will reopen for regular hours Saturday.. Detectives used a Crime Scene Unit vehicle with state-of-the-art forensic evidence gathering tools.
