A man suffered gunshot wounds during an attempted robbery about 9:30 p.m. Thursday on North Maney Avenue and Jackson Street, Murfreesboro Police reported.

Victim Mitchell Henderson, 25, of Murfreesboro, suffered gunshot wounds to his right thigh and left foot, Officer Dave Norton reported.

It was one of three robberies reported to police within four hours late Thursday and early Friday.

Henderson was walking on North Maney when two men he identified and a third man approached him and ordered him to take his clothes off.

“Mitchell assumed they were going to rob him because the unknown subject pulled out a 9mm,” Norton reported. “Mitchell ran and the shooter starting firing at him. Mitchell received a gunshot wound to his right thigh and left foot.”

Henderson ran to Blue Rooster bar on North Church Street and asked for help.

“Apparently ‘get naked’ or ‘take your clothes off’ is street slang for ‘give me your money, phone and everything you got,’” Norton reported.

Detectives took over the investigation.

In a second robbery, Officer Kristy Inglish reported a robber held up Quick Sak at 760 E. Northfield Blvd. about 9:39 p.m. Thursday, escaping with an undetermined amount of cash.

The clerk told Inglish a man dressed in black entered the story and brandished a black handgun. He walked around the corner and demanded money. The clerk gave him all the money in the cash register.

As he left, the robber pointed the gun at the clerk and ordered, “If you tell police, I will kill you.”

The clerk pushed the alarm and hid in the back room until Inglish arrived. A witness described the robber as a man dressed in black about 6 feet tall.

In the third robbery, Officer Brandon Benge reported victim Kenneth Johnson of Brown Drive told him two men posing as security guards or police officers approached him and Dorray Evans and ordered them to the ground.

They took their wallets and told them they matched the descriptions of men who had just been involved in a robbery, the officer reported. They returned the wallets and drove away in a dark pickup truck.

The suspects were described as two white men wearing jackets reading “Security.” They were believed to be armed.

People who have information about the suspects are asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 893-2717 or Crime Stoppers at 893-STOP between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

OK, while the paper reports the race of the third robbery, what were the descriptions of the other two? Are we afraid to say that a minority committed a crime? This is ridiculous!! We all know that blacks and Hispanics commit most of the crimes, let us know who to look for...

" “Apparently ‘get naked’ or ‘take your clothes off’ is street slang for ‘give me your money, phone and everything you got,’” Norton reported."

If 3 random guys approached me with a gun and told me to take off my clothes or get naked I would run too. I don't care if it means "we're gonna rob you" or "literally take off your clothes"... I'm not sticking around to find out.

enoughisenough: wow, just wow. Sure, the description is a bit lacking, but if it said "a black man in black about 6 feet tall" you think that helps narrow it down?

What is even more of a question to me is why did he run to a bar 3-4 blocks away from the corner of maney and jackson instead of to the ER that is a block away?

enoughisenough... you wonder why people say that racism is still exists in this area???

The only thing racist in Enoughisenough's comments is that he is correct. If your going to reports ones race, then you should report the others. Fair treatment from the post is just not expected.
