Veteran teacher heads Webb School's summer program

BELL BUCKLE, Tenn. – The Webb School is offering summer programs that include a weeklong day camp for fourth through eighth grade students focusing on science, technology, robotics, art, Chinese and outdoor skills.

The camp will be held Monday, June 17, through Friday, June 21, as well as the following week.

The summer program also includes SAT English and math prep courses for ninth through 12th grades, which will be offered both weeks.

A basketball skills camp for third through 12th grades, slated for Wednesday, June 26, through Friday, June 28, and a soccer skills camp for rising second through 12th grades from Saturday, July 15, through June 19 round out the Webb programs.

All programs will be offered on campus with Webb faculty as the instructors. Summer Program Director Cindy Jones is a longtime teacher in the Murfreesboro City Schools system, a current education consultant and one of Tennessee's two National Teachers Hall of Fame members.

The day camp schedule is 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at a cost of $225 per week, which includes lunch.

Bus transportation from Murfreesboro at the former Food Lion on South Church Street will be provided for $30.

The SAT English prep courses will be offered from 9 a.m. till 10:20 a.m., and the math prep course from will be held afterward from 10:30 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. Each course costs $100.

The basketball skills camp is slated 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at a cost of $125 per student, which also includes lunch. It will be led by Scott Dorsett and Jeff Mitchell, varsity girls and boys head coaches.

The soccer camp is 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at a cost of $150, with lunch included. It will be led by Adrian Anderson, varsity boys head coach, and Andy Lyon.
