Veronica “Roni” Adkins

Veronica “Roni” Adkins, age 84, of Smyrna, TN, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2014. A native of Covington, KY she was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Ostendorf and Margaret Jonas Ostendorf; and also her brother, Ray Ostendorf.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00PM at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Pat Hood and Kyle Goen will officiate. Burial will follow in De Kalb County Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Adkins is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Everett M. Adkins; sons, Tony Adkins and his wife, Donna of Destin, FL, Dan Adkins and his wife, Tracy of Destin, FL, and son Marc Adkins and his wife, Connie of Smyrna, TN; sister, Martha Evans of Covington, KY; eight grandchildren, Shawn Adkins and his wife Nichole, Aimee Adkins, Jason Adkins, Bailey Adkins, Camryn Adkins, Adam Adkins, Amber Adkins Loudon and her husband Jason, and Lindsey Nicholas and her husband Dustin; six great-grandchildren, Aiden, Eli, Owen, Michaela, Hayden, Leighton Everett; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Adkins was a member of LifePoint Church in Smyrna, TN. She was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force as a dental assistant. Mrs. Adkins was a member of the Smyrna Newcomers Welcoming Committee during the 1970’s and was a hostess for many years with the Cookie Swap in Smyrna. Mrs. Adkins was a published poet and she enjoyed her many years of traveling abroad while being a part of a military family. Faith, family and her country were most important to her.

Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM and Sunday from 12:00PM to 2:00PM at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna.
