To support the company’s rapid growth, Verizon Wireless is hiring more than 300 employees in the Nashville area at its Franklin and Murfreesboro call centers as well as retail locations throughout the Nashville area. Positions include retail sales representatives, call center representatives and sales support.

“Verizon currently employs over 2,600 people in Tennessee, and we’re experiencing dramatic growth that allows us to further invest in Tennessee jobs,” said Jerry Fountain, region president, Verizon Wireless. “Our focus is always on building career paths for our employees; there’s tremendous potential for growth in the wireless industry.”

Job seekers will meet call center recruiters and use on-site computers to file job applications at two hiring events in July. The first will take place July 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Verizon’s retail store located at 1959 Mallory Lane in Franklin. The second event will take place July 24 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Verizon call center located at 455 Duke Drive in Franklin.
Verizon is actively seeking to provide career opportunities for returning veterans.  "We know veterans return to Tennessee every day to start a new phase of life," said Candice Carter, Verizon talent acquisition manager. “We train our recruiters to recognize the value of military experience in providing both tangible and intangible skills that help them succeed in our company."
The new positions offer competitive salaries and benefits, and new employees at the Verizon call centers will receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus. The company is known for promoting diversity and work/life balance. First-rate benefits include health insurance that begins on the first day of employment, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance and annual bonuses. Employees also enjoy access to on-site college courses, education study rooms, dining facilities, fitness centers staffed with personal trainers and lactation rooms for new mothers.

It’s always fantastic to see job creation occur in your local community! Especially one that has already established themselves here in Murfreesboro. This recent announcement shows how committed to the Middle Tennessee area Verizon is. It’s nice to see major corporations such as Amazon and Nissan show similar commitments as well. I knew that Verizon Wireless employed a large number of people, but I had no idea it was as many as 2,600 in Tennessee. To see that they are adding to that number is really impressive.
The only downside to this news is I’ve heard the work schedule and actual on-the-job activities are less than ideal. Working in a call center can already be taxing dealing with frustrated customers all day, and having a schedule of any eight hours between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., Monday-Sunday has to only add to that stress. In concern to Amazon, I know many people that have been burned out from the ten hour, overnight shifts of hectic warehouse work. I simply wish these jobs provided employment that was more sustainable with a normal lifestyle.
Regardless of that qualm, I still feel that this increase in job opportunity in Middle Tennessee is positive. If you are an individual in Middle Tennessee without a college degree, Verizon and other companies provide plenty of great opportunities for well paying, full benefit jobs.

I think this article is such a positive outlook in the employment industry. Verizon is such a huge and extremely successful corporation, that they can allow themselves to hire many new employees. This would great news for those who are working in the Franklin and Murfreesboro area. I am sure that some college students would love to reap the benefits of working for this company. I especially think that Verizon offering their employment to Veterans, and reaching out to veterans who have come back home, and are looking for employment, to be a wonderful opportunity. I’m sure many people who are located in the Murfreesboro and Franklin area will apply to Verizon and reap the benefits of working for their company. The fact that they are offering health benefits, alongside a $1,000 sign on bonus, is just the topping on the cake.
However, from my perspective, if people who apply for this company are students, and this schedule Verizon offers is full-time, then I would say they may possibly be in over their heads. Personally, I have worked at a call-center and my schedule was 9 and half hours a day. I worked during the weekend and went to school full time during the week. I was extremely exhausted, and I cannot help but wonder how people will be able to time manage working a full time job alongside other time consuming obligations such as schooling, children, etc. Do not take me wrong, I still consider this opportunity to be wonderful, but this job will require a lot of time and commitment. If people have the willpower to work this job, and balance other obligations then I say go for it and I commend you 100 percent. Hopefully, if students do apply to this job, then they will handle it to their fullest power, and still come out great in other areas of their lives.

I think is a great opportunity for many people in the Nashville, Franklin, and Murfreesboro area to gain employment. According to Jerry Fountain, the regional president of Verizon Wireless, they already have over 2,600 employees in Tennessee. Along with the positions available they are other additional perks such as health insurance, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, and annual bonuses for first-rate employees. However, there is only a two day window for job seekers, which is better because you get serious applicants a better chance for employment. There is also a 1,000 sign-on bonus for the new positions offered. Its also good to know Version is known for promoting diversity and work life. This is a great opportunity to promote growth within our community.

This also helps the youth and other young adults to stay out of trouble in those areas if hired on. Also according to the article, “Employees also enjoy access to on-site college courses, education study rooms, dining facilities, fitness centers staffed with personal trainers and lactation rooms for new mothers.” I think this also brilliant because it’s all on-site involvement. This is more then a job opportunity, but rather a way to start your career, and enhance your life. They are also looking to hire veterans who would like a fresh start in life. Its truly great to opportunities like this come to fruition for unemployed citizens
