Vandals caused about $14,000 damage to several homes under construction during the weekend on Splash Place and Carboncopy Court off Osborne Lane, Murfreesboro Police reported.

Managing broker Ed Hoganson of Classic Homes in Smyrna opened the homes for showing Sunday afternoon, Officer Dave Norton reported. When he returned about 6:30 p.m., he heard water running inside one home.

Water damage was estimated at more than $1,000. He found broken light fixtures and damaged ceilings with an estimated $10,500 loss.

While he checked a second home, a neighbor watched two juveniles climb out a back window. The house sustained $1,000 in damages.

Mark Wood of Mark Wood Construction owned those two homes and a third home vandalized on Carboncopy Court.

Officer William Drye reported vandals broke a wooden door and poked about 200 holes in the dry wall at the house on Carboncopy Court. Damage was set at more than $500.

People who have information about the vandals are asked to call Detective Doug Arrington at 893-2717.

In an unrelated case, Officer Bryant Smith reported thieves stole a U.S. flag and his U.S. Air Force flag from the flagpole owned by Allan Smally on Solomon Court. Loss was set at about $77.
