UPDATE: Oakland football player charged in home invasion | Home invasion, Juvenile Court Magistrate Adam Dodd, Leslie Collum, Jeffrey Gruber, Bryant Gregory

People who know this man's identity are asked to call Detective Bryant Gregory at 904-3054.
An Oakland High School football player was one of five suspects suspected of robbing a teammate’s father at gunpoint during a home invasion last week in Lascassas, a sheriff’s detective said Wednesday.

Victim Robert Hunter of Declaration Drive was washing a bowl in his kitchen when a man pointed a handgun toward his head about 5:15 p.m. June 10 inside his home. Two other men who demanded money accompanied the gunman. Hunter reported they fled with electronic games, his wallet and cell phone.

During his investigation, Detective Bryant Gregory released photographs of the suspects showing them using Hunter’s credit cards in Smyrna, Nolensville and Antioch. He identified the 16-year-old junior as one of five suspects.

The student “does play football at Oakland High School,” Gregory testified during a detention hearing Wednesday. “The coaches were able to identify him from the photos.”

Gregory charged the student Tuesday with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000. The other suspects remain at large.

Juvenile Court Magistrate Adam Dodd ordered the student held in detention.

Gregory said the student had been in the Hunter’s home before. Hunter’s son is an Oakland High School football player.

The student told Gregory he didn’t go inside the home. Witnesses told deputies one man drove an SUV in the neighborhood.

Assistant District Attorney Leslie Collum asked Dodd to keep the boy in detention because of the seriousness of the crime. The suspects chose Hunter because the boy had been in the home before.

Defense attorney Jeffrey C. Gruber asked the boy be released.

“Unfortunately on this day he was where he shouldn’t have been,” Gruber said. “His role was minor.”

Dodd said any type of burglary bothers him because the situation can be dangerous.

“It shows a complete lack of appreciation for the risk involved,” Dodd said.

Dodd ordered the student to remain in detention until Tuesday because he is a risk to himself and the community.

Gregory is still searching for the other four suspects. People who have information about the suspects are asked to call him at 904-3054.

Go back to Auburn or where ever you came from. And take your boy with you! Yeah the one in the article! :)

This has nothing to do with football. But I would be willing to guess that this boy knows who the other suspects are, and he will probably tell.
