Officials have released the name of the suspect who fled from authorities Thursday night when a bounty hunter and officers with the Murfreesboro Police Department were trying to take him into custody.
Randall E. Council, 34, was last seen on foot near Campus Pub across the street from the Murphy Center.
He is believed to have left the campus area, according to MTSU officials.
The bounty hunter believed that Council did have a handgun during a confrontation, which led to the him firing one shot toward the suspect. However, no one was injured during the incident, according to law enforcement officials.
The Office of Public Safety notified students via e-mail that they believe there is no known immediate or ongoing threat to campus as a result of the incident, which occurred just after 6 p.m.
Officials are asking students to contact the MTSU Office of Public Safety at 615-898-2424 to report any suspicious activity.

Officlals with the MTSU Office of Public Safety have informed students that the man who was seen carrying a gun near campus has been identified as a bounty hunter - not a suspect.
According to MTSU officials, the bounty hunter was trying to serve a warrant on a suspect in the vicinity of Campus Pub, located on Greenland Drive.
The bounty hunter may have fired a shot while trying to apprehend the suspect, but no one was injured during the incident, according to an MTSU Alert sent to students.
The suspect who fled from authorities has not been apprehended, however university officials said they believe that students are in no immediate danger.
According to the MTSU Alert, authorities do not believe the suspect is armed at this time.
Students are advised to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to campus police by calling 615-898-2424.
