Murfreesboro City Police apprehended the suspect wanted in connection with this morning’s shooting at MTSU’s Business and Aerospace Building, university President Sidney McPhee said.

“However, we are asking that the university community remain in place and remain cautious until we send out a further notice. I will provide more information to you as it becomes available,” he said.

Justin Macklin was identified as the shooter and Austin Morrow as the victim.

MTSU was placed on lockdown Monday morning after Morrow was shot in the finger with the handgun and sustained non-life threatening injuries. According to the first alert sent by MTSU, the two men were arguing when one man pulled a handgun and shot the other in the hand.

Classes resumed at 1:30 p.m. after the suspect was caught and the BAS biulding was reopened at 2:30 p.m.

Local law enforcement was on the look out for the Macklin, the suspect in the shooting, which occurred around 11:30 Monday morning at the Business and Aerospace Building.

Also six Rutherford County Schools, all located near campus, were placed on lock down as a precaution, RCS Spokesman James Evans said.

"As a precaution, we locked down Campus School, Central Magnet, Holloway High, Oakland High, Oakland Middle and Daniel-McKee Alternative School. All of these schools are in near proximity to MTSU," he said.
