Two men who “severely beat” an elderly Eagleville couple are sought for robbing and assaulting them late Sunday night, a sheriff’s detective said.

Victim Cecil Story, 86, a World War II and Korean conflict veteran, suffered broken bones and severe cuts when clobbered by the robbers at his secluded Floyd Drive home, Deputy Matt Moseley reported. His wife, Edna, 93, suffered severe injuries to her wrists and feet.

Detective Steve Kohler said Cecil Story was treated for severe injuries at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville and released while his wife who weighs 60 pounds was treated at Middle Tennessee Medical Center and released.

“They were beaten to a pulp,” Kohler said. “She was beaten so badly her glasses were knocked off.”

One of the suspects may have worn an orange camouflage jacket.

Detectives were following leads in an effort to identify the suspects. People who have information are asked to call Kohler at 904-3046.

The robbers escaped with about $100.

Moseley reported the couple heard a knock on the door about 10:30 p.m. at their home located about 500 yards off the road near the county line. The wife described what happened.

“Two subjects entered the residence and attacked her husband Cecil first,” Moseley reported. “Edna stated the second subject then forced her to the ground and told her not to look up or they would be hurt. Edna stated she never saw either of the subjects’ faces.”

Her husband opened the door and someone hit him immediately, knocking him to the floor, the deputy reported. They tied them up and asked for money. The husband told them they didn’t have any money in the house.

Kohler said detectives worked on the case all night Sunday and all day Monday.

The Storys did not know why someone would want to rob or injure them, he said.

“We have some pretty good leads,” Kohler said.

You have put *severely beat* in quotations.
Are you suggesting that they were not severely beaten?

An 86 year old man and 93 year old woman were beaten/attacked in their own home.

My parents are both 87 years old. i can only imagine how these people feel... This whole thing is horrible!

betweeen the ecomomy and the general attitudes of people towards each other has made me very cynical towards mankind.

This is absolutly horrable, these 2 men should get the death penalty.
