Barnes and Noble is sponsoring Curious George at Discovery Center! Visit with your favorite monkey at Discovery Center on Sunday with appearances at 2 p.m., 3p.m., and 4 p.m..

Monday, February 16

UNPLUG! and Read with the Presidents at Discovery Center

Enjoy some presidential fun at Discovery Center at our President’s Day Celebration from 10 a.m.-noon. Hear a story about a famous president and enjoy a presidential snack in the kitchen.

UNPLUG! and Read with “Dinner and a Book” at Smyrna Boys and Girls Club

Smyrna Boys & Girls Club is having a family night from 5-6:30 pm. They will have a small dinner and the event is called “Dinner and a Book.”

UNPLUG! and Read with Movement at SportsCom

Enjoy reading interactive stories with movement to correlate with characters in the stories at SportsCom 11:00-11:30 (ages 2 and up).

UNPLUG! and Read  with Food for Thought

Kids will love making and eating simple, slimy treats at Linebaugh Library’s Food for Thought: Easy Recipes for Kids at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Please sign-up because openings are limited. One parent per two children required. Sign-up in the Children’s Area at Linebaugh Library.

UNPLUG! and Read To Succeed and “Live to Learn” at Murfreesboro

Murfreesboro Boys & Girls Club will team up with Blackman Key Club for “Live to Learn” by hosting a Family Reading Night that evening from 5-7 p.m.

UNPLUG! and Read Poster Contest Awards at Hastings Bookstore

Trophies, gift cards, and more will be given to winners of the UNPLUG! and Read poster contest at Hastings Bookstore at 4:30.

UNPLUG! and Read at Family Pajama Night at Barnes & Noble

Join Barnes & Noble for a Family Pajama Night. Come in your jammies and enjoy story times, hot chocolate, cookies and more!

UNPLUG! and Read To Succeed with “Readers of Life” at Smyrna Boys and Girls Clubs

Readers from the community will come to the Smyrna to share their books. 

Saturday, February 21

UNPLUG! and Read or Listen to Original Works by Teens and Young Adults at Linebaugh Library

Young poets, writers, artists and songwriters are invited to take to the stage to share their creative expressions with a live audience of their peers. All teens and young adults welcome. Signups for the Open Mic will begin at Noon. In the interest of hearing a wide array of voices, sharing time will be limited to 5 minutes per person. Whether you plan on performing or would simply like to watch, Linebaugh welcomes you to come, listen, and speak out. 

Monday-Friday at Bellwood-Bowdoin Preschool

UNPLUG! and Read Wild About Reading

Bellwood will have readers reading to the children every morning after announcements. Head Start will join in with “Wild about Reading.” Parents will be provided with animal shapes documenting the title of each book read and their child's name. Every time an animal shape is returned, it will be put in the “Cafeteria Jungle.”
