At week nine of their fundraising campaign, United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties has gathered $939,717.53 of their $3 million goal, with $15,748.46 designated to Cannon County.

The campaign runs through the middle of December.

Director of Marketing and Special Events at United Way, Meagan Flippin, said giving to the organization is easy.

Individual donations can be made online, people can use payroll deduction to set aside a small amount from their paychecks for donation and anyone can set up a charitable event.

“People can host any type of special event or fundraiser to benefit United Way,” Flippin said. “We’ve had a lot of different chili cook-offs and things like that that some different organizations have done in the past few weeks.”

United Way will be recognized at an MTSU football game Nov. 27 at 2:30 p.m., and it will be a part of Gaylord Opryland’s Hall of Trees exhibit Nov. 20 – Dec. 20.

United Way’s Chase the Cars contest, where people who pledge at least $300 will be entered in a drawing to win a new car, will also be featured in Rutherford County Christmas Parade Dec. 12. It will also be at Woodbury’s parade Dec. 4, Smyrna’s Dec.5 and Eagleville’s Dec. 11.
