United Way to host 'High Tea' to honor 12 women

United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties will host a fund-raising event on Tuesday, April 14th, honoring women who have devoted their time, energy and resources to developing and maintaining the culture of the community. The “high tea” event will be held from 3 until 6 p.m. at Park Place on Old Salem Road in Murfreesboro. Cost to attend the “high tea” is $60 per person. Profits will benefit the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties. To purchase a ticket, contact the United Way office, 893-7303, ext. 102. Featured speaker for the event will be Lynne Tolley, proprietress of Miss Mary Bobo’s Boarding House, and the author of, Cooking with Jack, a time honored cookbook featuring recipes from the Jack Daniel’s family cookbook. Twelve area women will be honored during the event. Honorees include: Leslie Akins, Sherry Carpenter, Gena Dix, Sherry Galloway, Kathy Jones, Pallie Jones, Lynn Lien, Patty Marschel, Liz Mcphee, Cathi Rowlison, Kathy Ryan and Diane Stockard.
