United Way set to rock Readyville Mill | Event, United Way, Readyville Mill

Started as a retirement project by Tomm Brady in 2006, the Readyville Mill, built in 1812, will be the site of the United Way’s Music at the Mill on Oct. 23.

With entertainment to suit all ages, the entire family is invited to Readyville to enjoy live entertainment from local bands at Music at the Mill! Saturday, Oct 23.

John Blankenship’s String Band will open the show at 3:30 p.m. with its “Remembering Marty Robbins” set, followed by current country music and pop singer/ songwriter Riley Jackson at 4:30 p.m.

At 5:30 p.m., Bruce Nemerov & Friends will serenade the crowd with old-time folk music. Female duo Good Luck Ola will then take to the stage at 6:30 p.m. performing classic country tunes with which everyone can sing along.

Feature band Stones River Pilots will headline the show at 7:30 p.m. Its set list includes classic rock & roll, ’50s tunes and blues.

“The Stones River Pilots are very excited to play at the United Way of Cannon County benefit. We love to play and we love to play for a good cause. We look forward to ‘rocking the mill’,” drummer Norris Hall said.

The concert is a benefit for United Way’s Cannon County agencies.

“United Way is excited to present a new and unique event in Cannon County: Music at the Mill. This event will provide musical entertainment in a variety of genres with the beautiful outdoor setting found at the Readyville Mill,” said Meagan Flippin, director of marketing and special events for United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties.

Approaching its 200th birthday, the mill is on the National Register of Historic Places.

It was originally constructed as a water-powered grist mill in 1812.

Tomm and Martha Brady purchased the mill in 2006 with plans to restore the site and succeeded, opening the doors as a venue for special events in 2009.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnic blankets and lawn chairs, but coolers and alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Local food and beverage will be available via concessions at the mill.

Tickets are $15 for adults at the gate and $10 in advance. Student tickets for ages 11 to 18 are $6 and admission for children under the age of 10 is free.

Advance tickets are available at Cannon Courier, WBRY, Regions Bank, Old Feed Store Antique Mall, Senior Center, Arts Center of Cannon County, First Bank, First National Bank, UT Extension Office, United Way Office and R.E.A.C.H. Tickets can also be purchased beforehand at Readyville Mill from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

The rainout date is scheduled for Nov 6.

Sounds great! I haven't lived in Murfreesboro long. Where is Readyville and where is the Mill?

I added the address and phone number for the mill to the bottom of the article. Sorry for leaving it out.
