United Way collecting baby items

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties will host its inaugural Community Baby Shower in January 2014 to benefit at-risk families in the area.

Organizers are in needed of various baby items, including clothes, diapers, bottles, baby wipes, blankets and formula.

Those interested in donating items for the baby shower may drop off items until Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at the United Way office, located at 615 Memorial Blvd. in Murfreesboro.

Items may also be delivered to City Auto, located at 1023 Bridge Ave. in Murfreesboro, until that date as well.

A Baby Shower Sort-A-Thon will be held at Holloway High School on Friday, Jan. 24, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Volunteers will assemble care packets that will be distributed to at-risk families in the community.
