The United Way of Rutherford and Cannon County continued its record-breaking tradition when it announced raising a record amount of pledges for the second year in a row.
The nonprofit raised $3,202,233.13 during the 2012 fundraising campaign, which topped its previous record of $2.9 million set by last year's campaign.
The announcement was made at the annual Community Celebration, which recognized the achievements of United Way corporate partners and volunteers for the 2012 year.
On top of the more than $3.2 million in pledges, the United Way also saved residents $401,606 through the FamilyWize prescription discount program, invested $206,231 in volunteer hours and saved $492,000 in tax refunds through its VITA program.
Combined with the fundraising campaign, the United Way made a total impact of $4,302,070.13 in Rutherford and Cannon counties in 2012.
