Navigation Advertising in partnership with WSM 650 and Patriot films will be releasing a DVD that tells the story of Uncle Dave Macon Days, the festival that not only commemorates the man’s life, but also the legacy of old-time music and dance.

“Uncle Dave Macon Days has become the premier event in the subculture of old-time music and dance,” said Christian Hidalgo of Navigation Advertising.

Uncle Dave Macon Days is an annual event in the historic Cannonsburgh, which marks its 31st year this summer on the weekend of July 11-13.

"The Uncle Dave Macon Days Video is a great insight into the beginnings of this popular Tennessee festival and what it has become. Uncle Dave Macon ‘the King of The Banjo Pickers’ and the music he helped pioneer lives on at this great event,” said Leroy Troy, world-famous banjo player and Uncle Dave performer. “It is like a big family reunion for the folks who share a common interest in music and dance.”

Since 1986 the festival has been the home of the national old-time banjo, clogging, and buck-dancing competitions.

"There is a unique spirit that prevails during Uncle Dave Macon Days. It comes from the hearts of the volunteers and the many participants and is just as real as the music and dance. The documentary captured it perfectly; perpetuating the legacy for this and future generations," former Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce President, Ralph Vaughn said.

The premier of the DVD is free to the public but all are asked to RSVP by June 25 to Christian Hidalgo at (615) 896-6076. WGNS radio will also be broadcasting live from the event.

“The DVD is not only a commemoration of a man’s life, but of the men and women who have dedicated their lives to keep the subculture alive,” Hidalgo said.
