Two suspects were captured Friday by sheriff’s deputies at the scene of a home burglary on Alsup Road in the Walter Hill community.
Suspect Brittany Hood, 21, who is homeless, and companion Daxton Cook, 22, of Oak Street in Murfreesboro, were charged with aggravated burglary of Franklin Hood’s home, Deputy Ed Luther reported. Franklin Hood is Brittany Hood’s uncle.
Deputies responded to a report of a home burglary where Luther and Deputy Mark Barnes noticed a car backed up to the home. A man and woman, later identified as Cook and Hood, walked out of the back door.
Cpls. Ryan Huggins and Mark Moody arrived to back up Luther and Barnes. Huggins found a screwdriver on Cook, Luther reported.
The “suspects entered the residence and attempted to take a flat screen TV from Mr. Hood’s bedroom,” Luther reported, adding a drawer in a chest was opened.
Franklin Hood arrived home and identified Brittany Hood as his niece who did not have permission to be at his home. The victim checked his home but didn’t find any missing property.
Detective Lt. Todd Sparks and Detective Troy Hooker investigated.
Hood and Cook were transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where they were both charged with burglary. Hood was charged with two counts of violation of probation and Cook was charged with missing a Circuit Court date.
Officers seized the 1999 Lincoln the suspects drove to the home.
Hearings were set for the suspects June 8 in General Sessions Court.
