Two boys ages 17 and 14 were accused of robbing and assaulting a woman and carjacking her Honda Saturday night on East Castle Street, a Murfreesboro Police detective reported.
Victim Sara Bell stopped to check the mail at her apartment mailbox about 9:45 p.m. Saturday when two males demanded her money and her keys, Detective Tannas Knox reported. Bell told them she didn’t have any money and her keys were in the car.
“After the subjects searched Ms. Bell for keys and money, they told her not to look back and left in Ms. Bell’s green Honda Accord,” Knox reported.
Sgt. Cary Gensemer spotted the car at State Street and First Avenue and attempted to stop them. He pursued the car until it wrecked at Highland Avenue and Eventide Drive and four males bailed out.
Police located the driver, front seat passenger and rear passenger Eddie T. Smith Jr. but officers were unable to apprehend or identify the fourth suspect.
Knox interviewed the suspects and charged the juveniles with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault with a firearm, carjacking and felony evading arrest. She charged Smith, 18, of Courtland Street, with evading arrest.
The juveniles attended a detention hearing Monday in Juvenile Court. Smith’s hearing is set Feb. 11 in General Sessions Court.
