One husband accused of killing his wife and disposing of her body and another man accused of shooting a friend of his wife’s were indicted on murder charges by the grand jury this month.
Husband William M. Jones, who will be 35 Monday, of Detroit, Mich., was charged with first-degree premeditated murder of his wife, Lashawn Anna Jones, 23, of Murfreesboro. Her husband reported her missing Oct. 6.
Her body was found Oct. 18 off Old Nashville Highway. He was also charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and filing a false police report.
Another set of indictments charged Derrick D. Campbell, 33, of Lewisburg with first-degree premeditated murder and felony murder of Christopher L. White, 31, July 14 on Peachtree Street. Campbell was also indicted on charges of aggravated burglary, two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a felon.
Murfreesboro Police Officer Deric Haynes reported White was visiting with Campbell’s wife, Valarie Nechole Campbell, at her mother’s home when the husband allegedly broke in and threatened them with a handgun.
Police spokesman Kyle Evans accused Derrick Campbell of shooting White multiple times with the handgun. White died of his injuries.
In another case, multiple indictments were lodged against a father accused of threatening his daughter and another girl at gunpoint July 4.
Edd L. Fults, 43, of Meadowview Drive in Christiana, was indicted on two counts of aggravated assault after he allegedly held a handgun on his daughter and her friend, aggravated kidnapping after he allegedly refused to let them leave the house and possession of a weapon by a felon.
Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Moseley accused Fults of head-butting his daughter and kicking the other girl in the leg. The girls were able to escape and notify deputies.
In another case, Steven L. Lewis, 33, of Memphis and Anthony T. Morgan, 20, of Tupelo, Miss., were indicted on charges of two counts of aggravated robbery, fraudulent possession of a credit card and possession of a weapon by a felon.
Lewis and Morgan were accused of robbing Brian Ashway of his wallet and Miguel Romano of $50 in separate robberies Aug. 10.
Another indictment charged James A. Stanback with aggravated robbery.
Smyrna Police Detective Rick Hall accused Stanback of robbing victim Richard Roberts of his wallet Sept. 14 at the Citgo on North Lowry Street in Smyrna.
They were among 115 defendants indicted by the grand jury during its November term will receive copies of their indictments at 9 a.m. Monday from Circuit Court Judge David Bragg.
