Siegel got left out. Are they better than some other teams that are in?
The answer is yes but they didn't quite make it under the present "rules".
That loss in week one to Independence did in the Stars. Much better days are on the way for Siegel and I'm not just blowing smoke here. Siegel Middle was 8-1 and county champions and the Siegel freshman are Lions Bowl Champions.
Eagleville (5-5) travels to Moore County (6-4). Congrats to Coach Carson and the Eagles in what was expected to be a non-playff year.
MTCS (6-4) will host Cornorsville (4-6) Congrats to Coach Peden and the constantly improving and finally healthy Cougars.
Riverdale (7-3) will host Franklin County (5-5). RHS should be embarrassed to ask for a better match-up to advance. The Rebels were shut out in the second half at La Vergne and lost after leading at the half and RHS is at home.
Blackman (9-1) will host Nashville Overton (8-2). Lets see. A good Nashville metro team visits Blackman. What do you think will happen?
Oakland (8-2) will host Franklin (8-2). Tough matchup for both. Excellent athletes and coaches on both sides. If Oakland has all hands on deck the Pats have an edge.
Smyrna (9-1) hosts Brentwood (7-3). No way this matchup makes any sense.
A district champion plays a district champion in the first round?
Worse yet they've already played Sept. 27 when Smyrna won 22 - 20. Smyrna's reward for winning - they get to play the state's eighth ranked team again!
This is also unfair to Brentwood. Both teams might have been better off NOT winning their district titles.
