Kids dressed as lady bugs and comic book heroes will be lining the walking trail at LaVergne‚s Veterans Memorial Park from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 for their annual sojourn into sugar oblivion.
The annual "Trail of Treats" event hosted by the La Vergne Parks & Recreation Department of the city is now seeking organizations and businesses to host booths along the trail. While candy or other treats are expected by the 2,500 children who come through, participants may also hand out information about their organization.
Additional games like a spider-web course, pumpkin jumping, batty fishing, a hay ride and feed jack bean bag toss will be available at no charge to the community. The entire event is free to the public, but canned food items are encouraged to donate to the local food bank.
"This is always a fun day for La Vergne," said Jeff Marler, director of Parks & Recreation. "It has grown tremendously in the last eight years and every year it just keeps getting better and better."
