Traffic Update: Utility work all over town

The following road projects will affect traffic in Murfreesboro during the week:

Atmos Energy has several ongoing projects around town.

The utility will perform manhole work from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday next week on East Main Street between Cherry Lane and Middle Tennessee Boulevard. Expect disruptions in traffic. Proper traffic controls will be in place.

Atmos will also perform incidental work over the next few weeks from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday on the following roads:
• Ash Street between Highland Avenue and Broad Street,
• Highland Avenue between Ash and State streets,
• State Street between Highland Avenue and Hancock Street,
• Castle Street between Highland Avenue and Hancock Street, and
• University Street between State and Castle streets.

Murfreesboro Water and Sewer has its own list of projects that will disrupt traffic in town.

Starting Wednesday, MWSD is excavating on Thomas Court off Manchester Highway. The project should last a few days with work performed between 9a.m.-3 p.m.

Starting Monday, April 19, the utility will be performing work on Front Street near Cannonsburgh Pioneer Village. The project should be completed by Friday, April 23.

Also crews will be at work over the next few months on a sewer rehabilitation project on State Street.

Crews will start work on State Street near Highland Avenue and work eastward to Bilbro. Road will be closed to through traffic, but all local traffic will be allowed.

Crews will continue work on Bridge Avenue from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Thursday in front of the McFadden School of Excellence.
