Tornado tentatively being called an EF3

The National Weather Service is currently rating the tornado that devastated portions of Murfreesboro Friday a category EF3, with windings ranging from 136 to 165 miles per hour.

Preliminary results from an aerial survey show that the path of the tornado was 15 miles. The maximum width of the tornado was half a mile.

The National Weather Service assessment team is surveying the damage today.

According to initial reports from the National Weather Service, Friday’s tornado started its path of destruction just west of Brey Haynes Road, north of Windrow Road in the Blackman area.  It crossed portions of Interstate 24 and Medical Center Parkway, Northwest Broad Street, Haynes Drive, Compton Road, crossed Lascassas Pike and stopped just west of Lofton Road in Lascassas.

Hey all, you can see the damage path they marked out layered on Google Maps here. This will help anyone who was really wanting to know which areas and streets were affected.

There was also a tornado out Bradyville Pike. Not much if anything is being said about that one.
