Do you need information on receiving assistance as you recover from the storm’s aftermath? Linebaugh Library is here to help.
Linebaugh Public Library System is taking steps to help citizens of Rutherford County adjust and cope with the aftermath of recent severe weather. The library encourages all citizens in need of internet access, replacement library cards, and help replacing lost or damaged library books to contact the library. Additionally, Linebaugh has set up a repository of lost, small artifacts (such as photographs) for people to bring found items to the library. A directory of resources for people affected by the recent tornado has also been compiled and is available to those who need it.
“We want our community to know that the library is here to help them through these troubling times,” said Rita Shacklett, Director of the Linebaugh Public Library System.
“We’re pleased to see that the entire community is pitching in to help and I’m happy that the library is doing its part. Whether people need to look for a lost item, replace a library a card, or use a computer; the library is here to help—with a smile.”
Linebaugh Public Library is located at 105 W. Vine St. in Murfreesboro. The Library is the cornerstone of our community, enriching lives through free resources for learning, fun, and opportunity. Lowes to serve as donation sites
Lowes to serve as Red Cross donation sites Sixteen Nashville-area Lowe’s stores will serve as official donation sites for the American Red Cross to assist people who have been affected by the tornados that hit Middle Tennessee Good Friday.
Lowe’s has a long-standing partnership with the American Red Cross, which began in 1999. Since then, Lowe’s has raised more than $17.5 million for the organization’s disaster relief efforts, including a $1 million contribution last year to assist Gulf-coast residents affected by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike. Lowe’s employees volunteer frequently alongside the American Red Cross, providing on-site assistance in areas impacted by natural disasters.
Since the April 10 tornado, Nashville-area Lowe’s team members have been assisting affected local residents by delivering water, gloves and other cleanup supplies to tornado victims and helping those in the hardest hit areas with recovery and repair. Additionally, all Lowe’s stores in the area are working with product vendors and local contractors to ensure their shelves are fully stocked with recovery items for local homeowners.
Lowe’s stores in Murfreesboro and Smyrna are local donation sites.

Tornado Victim Legal Clinics
Because of the recent storms, many homes have been damaged or destroyed. The Rutherford/Cannon County Bar Association would like to warn recent storm victims of the potential danger as the cleanup and rebuilding processes begin.
It is important that anyone contracting for cleanup or repair work be sure that agreements with contractors are clearly written so that all their rights are protected. There have been news reports of scam artists who are collecting money up front and then failing to provide the service contracted for.
The Bar would also like to encourage anyone entering into a contract to seek legal counsel prior to execution of the contract to ensure that their rights are properly protected.
To aid the tornado victims, the Rutherford/Cannon County Bar Association will host free legal clinics for victims of the recent Murfreesboro tornadoes on the next four Saturdays, April 18--May 9, 2009, to provide them with free legal advice on insurance claims, insurance policy reviews, contract reviews or other general legal advice.
The Bar will also offer preparation of simple wills, living wills and powers of attorney to any storm victims as needed during the legal clinics.
The clinics will be held at the offices of Blankenship & Blankenship, PLLC, 307 Hickerson Drive, Murfreesboro, TN 37129 which is located behind Subway and Budget Brakes on Broad Street at the corner of Church Street. The clinics will be held from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and no appointments are necessary.
