There aren’t that many yard sales early in the week, so it’s a great time to check out some of Murfreesboro’s best thrift stores.
Here’s a quick go-to summary of some local favorites.
Goodwill, beside the Murfreesboro Athletic Club and behind Popeye’s Chicken, is located at 710 Memorial Blvd. in Murfreesboro.
Goodwill works off a colored-ticket process, by which each week a different color ticket is 50 percent off. So check what color ticket is on sale before you start shopping. The company also offers daily specials, so get your smart card soon.
Clothes prices range from $2.49 for items like T-shirts to $7.99 for jeans and dresses.
The first Saturday of every month, Goodwill has an all-day sale that comprises everything in the store being 50 percent off. It might be crazy and crowded, but sometimes it is worth it.
Remember, your dollars are supporting job training, employment resources, education enhancement and an individual reaching full potential with dignity and respect.
The Perpetual Garage Sale, located behind Coconut Bay Café in small strip mall with Mi Patria, has a very eclectic variety – some new items and some used.
This store has new jewelry, as well as some clothes and a few furniture items. The prices start at a $1.99.
Although the space is small, the Perpetual Garage Sale receives new stuff weekly, so it is definitely worth your time to take a look around.
Another great shop is the Garden Patch, an upscale thrift shop supporting Green House Ministries. It is located at 309 S. Spring St., one block down from City Tile.
This one you need to check often because there a lot of good local donations from antiques to Middle Tennessee State University items. Remember, it has a large selection of furniture around back and weekly specials for seniors, military and college students. Prices are similar to Goodwill, but the store offers usually higher quality items.
